Independent, and we intend to stay that way
VirtualCandy is a small editorial team focused on one thing: reviewing AI companion platforms honestly. We're not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any of the apps we cover. The opinions on this site are our own.
We built this because the AI companion space fills up with identical marketing every month, and it's genuinely hard to tell the apps apart from the outside. So we go inside them, use them properly, and report what we actually find — the good and the bad.
What we actually check
Every review is based on hands-on use with real accounts, not a glance at a feature list. We put each platform through the same checks:

How natural, coherent, and responsive the chat feels over a real session.
Memory & continuity
Whether the companion holds context and details instead of resetting.
Image consistency
How well generated images match the persona you built.
Voice
Clarity, naturalness, and how connected it feels to the character.

Free vs paid limits, billing clarity, and whether it's worth the money.
Privacy & safety
How each app handles accounts, data, and payment discretion.
What we stand for
- Honesty over hype. Every review names the downsides, not just the wins. If an app isn't worth it, we say so.
- Adults only (18+). This site and everything we cover is intended strictly for adults, in regions where such content is permitted.
- Transparent about money. Some links are affiliate links. We disclose this openly, and it never changes our verdict.
- Kept up to date. These apps change fast. When features, pricing, or policies shift, we revisit and update our reviews.
- Independent judgement. No brand pays us to rank it higher. Our recommendations follow the testing, not the payout.
